Me: 1, DA: 0

Remember this post?

The ticket part is finally... finally over. It's been four months since I was given a ridiculous traffic ticket and my attorney was finally able to get it tossed. It took him no less than four trips to court to get it canned, but he did it and I can finally move on (not that I've hardly even remembered I got the ticket, because I barely do). What's amazing to me is it took four months! My attorney had warned me it could take several months and several trips to court to work, but still... four months?

The cop conceded I could have seen the 55 MPH sign from where he clocked me and that I was polite when he gave me the ticket. Truth be told, I didn't even talk... I mean, really! He didn't ask me to speak, therefore I didn't speak. So why did it take so long? My attorney was waiting for the right judge/DA combo... apparently some combos are more willing to toss tickets than others. My attorney even commented someone said with the current DA it's easier to get felonies tossed than traffic fines. That's promising. Anyway, the ordeal is over and I can be rest assured I have no points on my record, which is a big deal hear in NC... something I don't understand but probably should.

Hooray! Ticket free... and no more mailings from over zealous attorneys looking to protect me. Now if only I could get the collection calls for someone I've never heard of to stop... if only!

Weight Watching

After months of abuse, prodding and nagging I signed up for Weight Watchers last Monday. Well, SpyC signed me up. I've been following the plan quite well this first week, if I may say so, and had great results today for my first weigh in. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6... count them SIX pounds in the first week! Woohoo! I don't expect to have that kind of success every week, but man I would love to lose that much every week. The weigh in has certainly motivated me for the week ahead, and it'll be a challenge as I head to work Friday for four days. Being on the road will definitely be a challenge, but I'll do all I can to stay within my points. I'll be anxious to weigh in next Monday to see how I did.

Feel free to throw your support my way... I can certainly use it! Look for the following tag line below at the end of each post and track my weight loss with me!

Yes! I've lost 6 pounds so far!

MoveOn can MoveOver

I am so mad I could spit. I have long been a member and supporter of MoveOn.org and their effort to get a Democrat into the White House. They decided to endorse a candidate before the party itself chooses who will be the presidential nominee. They chose Obama based on a member pole where less than 9% of members voted; Obama got the nod from less than 6% of MoveOn members. I am so mad I have terminated my support for MoveOn and sent the following email to them to share my displeasure. Pissed, pissed, pissed. I'm done!

"I am deeply disappointed MoveOn chose to back a candidate at this stage. You have alienated me and hundreds of thousands of other MoveOn members by endorsing a candidate. In your email to members you said an endoresement brings people power saying there are 3.2 million MoveOn members. Less than 9% of MoveOn members participated in the pole to select a candidate for an endorsement, and Obama received less than 6% of the total membership's vote.

"How can you possibly say this is representative of what MoveOn's members really want? You know by being MoveOn members we support change and a Democrat for office. Let us decide who that candidate will be without influence. Once that candidate has been chosen, then it's time to back them 100% for the home stretch. Should Clinton receive the nomination, which I hope she does, the relationship between MoveOn and Clinton will be strained. And that is NOT what we need to win the White House. Shame on you for playing politics within our own party.

"For this reason, I am removing myself as a member of MoveOn and will no longer support the group. Your poorly conducted pole and endorsement will only serve to pull our unity apart and make the road to the White House that much more difficult for a Democrat. Congratulations."
