Final advisement
Two major milestones are taking shape for me now, 1) loosing weight and 2) graduating from college. It's been a long time coming for both, and somehow, without planning it, both goals are coming to fruition at the same time.
Today I had my last advisement appointment with my advisor at ECU. I'm planning my last semester, which, thankfully will only be two classes, or six credits. It should be a breeze compared to this one and past semesters. Her first words to me were, "Ready to graduate?" My reply, "Yeah, how's five o'clock tonight?" I'm so ready it's not even funny. I can't believe it's nearly here. I just have a little more than a month remaining this semester, which when complete will be a huge relief.
As I wrote, I only have two classes next semester so it'll seem like a break compared to the last four. My advisor and I also confirmed my graduation application has been received and processed, and we verified my "Senior Summary" is complete, the process that ensures each and every credit required is satisfied, and that my remaining classes will meet any remaining obligations. Now that that process is complete, and the two final courses I need are confirmed for next semester, the only thing between me and graduation is seven months and passing my remaining classes. No pressure.
Just as with my weight loss, it's hard to believe graduation is almost here. It has been such a long road getting here, it's surreal. SpyC is over the moon and said she plans on being wasted before we even leave the house. Her words, "I'm sorry dear. As much as this is a big deal for you, it is for me as well. It's been a long road." She's right, this is just as much an achievement for her as for me. She's stuck with me through this sometimes turbulent and seemingly never ending process, and tens of thousands in student loans. The payoff is oh so near, and we can hardly wait.
