Royksopp

"Everywhere I go
"there's always something to remind me
"of another place and time
"of a love that travelled far and found me..."

You may not recognize the lyrics right away, but undoubtedly you'll recognize the music thanks to one of Geico's Caveman commericals. The music is featured in the commerical where the caveman is walking through an airport and stops to admire himself prominenantly placed in a large ad for Geico.

I've loved the music in that commerical since I first heard it. One of my roommates in New York discovered where the music came from. The group: Royksopp. I searched them on iTunes and found out the name of the song: "Remind Me." I also sampled several other tracks from them and really enjoy their music. I think when I get home I might be purchasing some of it. Check 'em out and tell me what you think.

Second life

It's days like today that remind me I really do have a second life here in New York. I arrived early this afternoon from London and caught a cab to my aparment in Kew Gardnes (Queens). It's humid as hell here. By the time I reached the apartment, and after flying from London, I was more than ready for a nice cold shower. I took the shower, then hauled my laundry off to Suze at the laundromat. She took care of that for me while I went off and had a pedi/manicure and then got a haircut. It was off to Suze's again for the laundry, Alba's (our local bodega) for a sandwich and the fruit stand for some bananas. It really is home away from home for me here and it's funny to me SpyC doesn't know a lot about it. Which makes all the more like a second life.

Farmer's Market

SpyC has told me for a while about how great the Raleigh Farmer's Market is. I finally went the other day, and was really impressed with the size of the facility and the quality of not only the fruits and vegetables, but the large variety of plants, trees and shrubs. It was hot the day we were there, so we didn't stick around too long. I am anxious to go back and have a good look and plan a meal around the things I can purchase there.

I've got talent

Apparently. I've been invited to assist friends in their quest to win Portland's 48 Hour Film Fest in August by participating in a "talent" capacity. I appeared in their wedding video, and for reasons still unknown to me, I was a hit! I don't get it as I was mostly embarrassed while watching myself on the big screen. Still, they want more and I am going to try and give more. Work schedule permitting, I'll be there! It won't be long before you can pull my profile up on IMDB.

Slumber party

It seems IKEA has taken the phrase "Shop 'til you drop" to a new level, adding, "Then sleep over." During the week of July 23 through July 27 IKEA is becoming a hostel, allowing up to 30 guests to sleep over. It's free, and so aren't the bed sheets you sleep on as you get to take them home with you. You'll also get a free bathrobe with an IKEA Hostel logo on it and slippers. Part of the fun also includes a tour of the inner workings of the warehouse with the "IKEA by night" tour.

The only problem? The slumber parties are only being offered in IKEA Norway locations. Bummer.
