I've been yelled at a couple of times recently for not writing here and keeping you abreast of the goings on in my life. Ok, maybe not yelled at, but you get the point. The truth is, I've been very, very busy. More than usual. First off, I've been flying about 50% more a month than I normally do, which equates to a whole lot less number of days off. The flip side of this is I've been having a blast on my layovers and probably spending more money than I should. No, definitely spending more money than I should. But some thing's gotta give.
My previous two posts referenced one outing on a layover in London at Church. That was quite the experience -- one that I've been invited back to at the end of March. (I declined as I will be accompanying SpyC to Vegas to visit friends and family.) On my last layover last month in London another crew member and I went to see a play called Boeing Boeing, a comedy about a bachelor in Paris dating three different flight attendants. Of course the trolley dollies didn't know about each other. When the shit hits the fan, it's very funny. Bertha, the house made, steels the show.
I feel like I'm living my own Boeing Boeing this week, the only exception is SpyC knows about them all. I flew to New York from Raleigh yesterday in order to make my early trip to St. Thomas this morning. I am back in New York now and am headed to London tomorrow night. Tomorrow day I have a lunch date with Victoria, one of the flight attendants I flew all last month with. I have a dinner date with a group of people in London on Wednesday night and a dinner date with Lori (another flight attendant) on Thursday back in New York. I head off to St. Thomas again on Friday and then hop a plane home, back to the real lady of my life.
It's a hectic schedule, but hey, I'll give it my best. Mixing social engagements while away at work helps to make the time go by more quickly as well as making the time away from home more tolerable. It is a busy week, but one I am looking forward to. I am also thoroughly enjoying the fact that, despite flying a lot more this month than I normally would, I have all weekends off which means when I am home I get to spend the time with SpyC. It makes the time apart seem like less, and we're both enjoying this arrangement.
Speaking of SpyC and I, things have been going really well for the two of us lately. We seem more of a cohesive couple and we both like that. Having been together over ten years, you notice there are times you are closer to one another than you may be at other times. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the state of the relationship, there are just times you feel closer, more connected to one another. I love those times, and this happens to be one of them. I know I have an incredible partner in my wife. We're kind of giddy with one another again lately. Love it. Last week when I was returning home I just happened to turn down our driveway as SpyC was heading into the house from returning from work. She stopped and stared at me and started bouncing up and down with excitement to see me. I giggled in my car as I pulled into the garage, making sure to freeze a mental image of that to enjoy for some time. I felt loved and missed, and even more excited to be home again.
Today SpyC did a huge favor for me... she dropped my application to East Carolina University (ECU) in the mail. I hope to begin classes this fall and finish my degree in Public Relations within the next two years. I am anxious as ever about this program and very much look forward to getting started. It'll be a challenge, as always, but one I am eager to start and complete.
As I mentioned above, SpyC and I are headed to Vegas at the end of the month for her Spring break. We're anxious to see our close friends and family we've missed so much since moving to NC over seven month ago. Can't believe it's been that long, but it has.
I must say globe trotting is quite exciting, but it's tiring too. I am, however, making the most of my job, earning extra money and planning to go back to school. And, my partner is at my side. Life is well... life is well.
