From North Cuba...

I am sitting in the sun in Miami, sipping Mai-Tais and the like and having a great time...yeah, right! I really am in Miam (North Cuba) but I am certainly not sitting by the pool, rather, in front of a computer screen. The hotel we stay is for crew members only, and they have amazing amenities no other hotel offers. This is one...free high speed internet access. I hope to sit by the pool later and work on homework. That should be nice.

When I was in San Juan earlier today I got a phone call from my brother. He was somewhere between Ely and the Utah border on Highway 50, nearing the end of the annual OATBRAN - One Awesome Tour Bike Ride Across Nevada. He started in Lake Tahoe on the California/Nevada state line and will end today on the Nevada/Utah stateline. When he called, he was riding his bike! I can imagine it gets a little lonely out there.

When I first sat down to check my e-mail here I got a message from a fellow flight attendant regarding a 9/11/01 story...one that was very sad. It was an e-mail Captain John Ogonowski's brother, Jim, wrote him this month. Captain Ogonowski was one of the pilots on AA flight 11, the first to hit the WTC. It was the only way Jim found to share with his brother how the last year has been and all the things that have happened. Needless to say, it was heart wrenching. For whatever reason, it struck me pretty hard and I became very emotional (this was a few minutes ago). I think talking to my brother earlier today made the tone for the letter even more emotional than it would have been otherwise and it just made me break down. (I can e-mail it to you if you want, let me know.)

It makes me realize how close I am to my brother, and how much I value and enjoy not only being brothers, but friends. I love you bro!
