It was nice to get back to work and my trip to New York was fun and definately eventful. We arrived in the city about 6pm on Monday night. Another flight attendant, Joan, and I went out to dinner about 8pm at a little Irish Pub and Resteraunt just down the street from the hotel. Then, we walked around Time's Square, went back to the hotel to drop off some bags and pounded the pavement once more. This time, we went to Grand Central Station. Although I've been by it many times, I had never been in it. It was absolutely beautiful inside. I am glad I finally got to see it. We ended up getting back to the hotel about 1am. It was great to get out and walk around so much, but my dogs sure were barkin'! And, on top of it all, it is really hot in New York right now...91 on Tuesday with fairly high humidity. Their normal temp for this time of the year is the low 60's. What a heat wave! By the time I got back to the hotel, even though it was 1am, I was drenched with sweat. What a workout!

On Tuesday, Joan and I met up around 11am and went and rented bikes. We rented the bikes on 59th Street and ended up riding all the way up to 102nd Street. We went back down to 72nd where we checked out Strawberry Fields, the memorial in the park for John Lennon. Then we headed over to the Hudson River Park and eventually wound our way back to 59th and Broadway to drop the bikes off. In all we had the bikes for two hours. What a workout, again!

When we returned the bikes, I inquired with the man working there about getting back the part of the release form that had my address, phone number and credit card number on it. I had to give it to them in case I stole or damaged the bike. Now that I had brought the bike back on-time and in the same condition I had rented it in, I wanted that info back...there was no need for him to have it. He wouldn't give it to me. There was no way I was going to leave the place without my credit card and address information, especially since this place was a little street corner operation (although it was listed in the New York Magazine.) I was trying to explain to this man, who spoke little english, why I wanted it back and why he didn't need it. Joan was attempting to do the same with the female employee. After a few minutes of arguing, I reached out and grabbed the form off the clipboard it was attatched to. He ATTACKED me! I never touhced him, I simply grabbed the form. After repeatedly telling him to let go of me or I would call the police and waving my cell phone at him, I tugged my arm and he let go. The whole thing happened so fast. The other flight attendant with me, Joan, didn't know what to think! The whole thing was over as quickly as it had begun, and we were on our way with what I wanted: my credit card and addresss information. Once the man let go of me, I looked over at Joan and calmly said, "Joan, it's over. Let's go." She looked at me, puzzled, and said, "Uh...ok."

We walked back toward our hotel and got a sandwhich and salad for lunch, and ate it in a little outdoor sitting area near our hotel. We weren't even talking to one anther, or looking at one another when all of sudden, we both burst out laughing, mouths full of food! It was truly a New York adventure! We laughed about it the whole way across the country. Now, its just a funny story to tell.

All in all, a great trip! Lots of exercise with an assault thrown in for good measure. I prevailed, unharmed, with what I wanted, and thats what counts! Don't mess with me!
