I watched the Madonna concert last night on HBO. I thought it was a great show! She is looking as good as ever, and I was pleasantly surprised by her trip down memory lane when she sang "Spanish Lullaby." Lots of great dancing and aerial stunts. I felt like I was watching an ultra modern installment of Cirque du Soleil.

Another frustrating month of reserve is coming to an end. I am finally back in Las Vegas and will return to San Jose for one more day of reserve on the 30th before coming home until the 5th! So, Jenn, Chris and Amber, that means I will be here the entire time you are! Hooray! It took a little doing, but actually worked out pretty much on its own. I can't wait to see you three! How fun!

Speaking of work, I have decided to torture myself next month and fly 130 hours. Now, let me explain what that means. In a typical month, I am actually airborn for about 70 to 80 hours, so I am nearly doubling that number next month. It exhausts me just thinking about it. I'll let you know how the month is going from various cities around the country. I will be flying next month to New York (4x), Las Vegas (4x), Reno (2x), Atlanta (2x), Denver, Tucson, Chicago, Austin, Raleigh, Miami and Las Vegas. And, on top of that, I will be spending seven nights in San Jose. Now, the before mentioned cities are simply where I will be laying over. I will also pass through Dallas/Fort Worth (8x), Los Angeles (5x), Chicago (3x), Las Vegas (2x), San Diego, Denver, Phoenix, San Jose and Austin. Sorry to bore you there, it makes me feel better to write it all down. And, it also gives you a glimpse at my mental instability. Anyone wanna come along?

Bethany's classroom is coming along very nicely. We have plans to take pictures of her and her classroom on Wenesday the 29th, so look for pix on her page sometime that afternoon or evening. She officially goes back to work this morning, and she is all set to go. I haven't been to her classroom in over a week, and I know she has gotten a lot done since I have been there. I am really excited about checking it out.

Jenn, I checked out your pix of you peeling wall paper! Looks like fun! (Um, yeah right!) I know though, that the motivation of a new home and making it yours is all it takes. Good luck to you on your adventure, and I hope to make it there soon to check it out. Although, next month is out of the question. For obvious reasons. :-)

I posted another picture of our house the other day. The second floor is well under construction. Check out the new pix by going to our links page and clicking on "Home Sweet Home."

Ok, I can't help but get caught up in the whole Gary Condit thing. So, here's my two cents. I don't care whether or not he had an affair with Chandra Levy. The problem is, for Gary Condit, this whole thing is just as much about finding Chandra as it is Gary's political career. And in the latter aspect, he tanked. The American People (as he referred to us several times) want to know of the level of his involvement, espcially his constituents, whether it is relative to finding Chandra or not. His evasive answers and repititious blah blah blah's will only make him more suspicious, keep him in the hot seat longer and threaten his career -- which, undoubtedly, he is more concerned about. I remember something about, "Liar liar pants on fire..." I think it is clear that Abbe Lowell (Condit's attorney) is just as much a liar as his client is. Ted Koppel, of course, was brilliant! (Nightline 8/23/01)

Ok, enough with that. A big congrats to Jenn as she prepares to take the keys to her new home later today! Jenn, I am so excited for you. I can't believe how much you've gone through, and still persevered (sp?). Hopefully sooner, rather than later, there will be a house warming party -- which would be one good excuse to get my butt up there again! Have fun painting!

And speaking of houses, ours is coming along nicely. Check out our house website at http://www.geocities.com/bethkevhouse for more information and pictures of the progress. Early next week I will be traveling out to the new house to get another picture. I hope to update the site with new pictures once a week, so be sure to check back often!

Also, speaking of progress, Bethany's classroom is really starting to take shape. School starts next Thursday (30th), and Bethany will definately be ready. We hope to add some pictures of her and her classroom to her page soon, perhaps next week when I will be home to take some pictures. Make sure you look for that too!

If you would like to discuss anything that appears on this web blog, or our websites, please feel free to e-mail either one of us. We'd love to here from everybody who is interested.

Sorry all. I haven't been good at my duty of ranting and raving, and putting it all on-line for you to enjoy. Beth and I drove by the house today. Wow. The framing has begun and the house is starting to take shape. Check it out by linking to it from our links page. We also got up bright and early this morning to go check out the garage sales. The sales just aren't too good during the summer. It's just too damn hot for anybody to do anything. So, they should start to pick up again in mid-September. We also checked out the new Super K that opened near us! What a zoo, but 12-packs of Diet Coke for $1.67 is a good deal!

Beth spent all of last week getting ready for school to start. The kids don't come back until Thursday, August 30, but Beth has trainings all next week. Then, the following Monday, all teachers return for even more meetings and trainings! Beth's new classroom is starting to take shape nicely, and we hope to include some pictures of it on her personal page soon. We'll let you know when they're there.

Otherwise, things around here are the same old same old. We had a real nice, but quiet birthday dinner for Beth on Wednesday night at P.F. Chang's (our favorite) with her grandma. Beth and I, for both of our birthday's, are going to see Les Miserables at the Aladdin in September. We're both very anxious for that. Beth has never seen it, and I have seen it twice. But I couldn't see it enough! It's wonderful!

I am now back in the Bay Area, but will be heading to New York Tuesday night on the red-eye. I had a great day hanging out with my friend Janniffer who I never get to see. We went and saw America's Sweethearts (great movie!), got a pedicure and had lunch together. All in all, a very relaxing and great way to spend the day in the Bay Area.

Bethany and our neighbor Megan went to school today to continue getting ready for the start of school (August 30). Bethany and Megan are going to go back, maybe with another neighbor, Nickie, tomorrow. And, Beth gets to brave the lines at DMV tomorrow too! Bethany's license expires on Wednesday (her 24th birthday!) and she can't renew this time by mail. So, she gets to go bare those hellacious lines! I am glad I won't be there!

Guess what, I'm in Boston. I knew my name was all over that trip, and just as well. That's just two less days I have to sit on my toosh in the Bay Area bored out of my mind. The flight here was nice and uneventful, although long: five hours and twenty minutes. I have a nice long layover here and head back to San Francisco tomorrow night.

Bethany and her mother had a nice time at the all night walk-a-thon. Bethany estimates they walked about ten miles in all. Although the team was to walk in shifts, Bethany said all they did was walk since there was nothing else to do in the middle of the night. She also said the humidity was high and made sleeping on the wet grass nearly impossible. Ugh. I'm glad I wasn't there. Although it would have been fun to spend the evening with her.

I am aware that a scripts error keeps popping up on every page of our new website. Although we've isolated the problem, we can't figure out why it is causing a scripts error. I will fix it (hopefully) when I return to Las Vegas on Thursday. Bare with me. Thanks.

Well, this is the first real posting to the web blog since it has been up and running. Jenn, thank you so much for your help. Everyone, if it weren't for Jenn, you wouldn't have the ability to sit and read our mindless rants and raves. Jenn, I am sure everyone thanks you, too.

Well, I am off to San Jose tonight for another frustrating week of reserve. For those who don't know, every other month I sit reserve, which means I only know my hard days off. Otherwise, I am on-call 24 hours a day and at the company's disposal. Now, that's all fine and dandy when you live in the Bay Area, but not when you live in Las Vegas. I don't know where I will be going tomorrow, if anywhere, although there is a trip to Boston that needs coverage, something tells me my name is all over it. We'll see how it works out.

Tonight, Bethany is going on an all night walk-a-thon with her mom in North Las Vegas. The walk begins at 6 p.m. and continues until 6 a.m. Bethany and her mother are on a team for Lake Mead Hospital (where Dale works) and will be walking in shifts. They are not literally walking all night long. But they'll be there all night long. Thank goodness this is Las Vegas where overnight lows dip to a cool low nineties. Given an option, I think I'd join them instead of facing an uncertain night and, for that matter, week in the Bay Area. I hate reserve!

Hey, thanks for stopping by. Soon, this page will be full of daily rants and raves by myself and occasionally Bethany. Using the ever spiffy web blog Blogger, we'll be able to quickly and easily update you on our most current happenings. So stay tuned, and check back often for frequent updates and additions to the web blog. Feel free to browse around the website, most everything is finished. We hope you like the new look!
